The Ballad of Nancy Hanks by Ludy Wilkie, musical score by Peter Strickland

This play is based on historical documents related to the possibility of Abraham Lincoln being born in this county, and requires a cast of 30. This play has been reworked to include some shorter musical numbers. We are planning to heavily workshop this play to make it a sucess for not only RCT and Mr. Wilkie but for Rutherford County. We hope to get this production to a point where it becomes an annual event for all of Rutherford County. There have been a number of books written and now movies coming out ablout this subject. It is a matter of great debate.

Come out and audition and be a part of history. February 21, 22, 23 from 6:30-9:30 pm at the ICC Library Auditorium. (located behind the library). There will be parts for actors, singers, costumers, techs and set construction. If you or anyone you know would like to help please let us know via phone, email or facebook.

No previous experience necessary. For more information, please contact: Ruth Bennett, Production Assistant, @ 979-204-8288.

RCT "A Family Affair"

When we refer to ourself as the RCT family we are often telling the literal truth. We are a multi-generational group with parents and children working closely together both on stage and behind the scenes. We have had father and son Richard and Adam Barnette working backstage and technical as well as acting together on stage. Brad Davis and his daughter Bonnie have done everyting from acting to sound to lights and sets and also play and sing music. We have Laura Collins Thomas and her children James and Julia Teears as well as her husband Stan Thomas who do everything from set design to acting together. Loyce Broughton and her daughter Erin Geese are acting together for the first time in our current production of "Sin in the South" by Diane Gallo. We have husband and wife teams who also work closely together both on and off stage with RCT. In this environment it is such a joy to watch families making memories with each other. The pride and accomplishment they feel with each project is truly what makes all the hard work worthwhile. If you have ever thought about getting involved but worried it will take too much time away from your family then really think about bringing them with you. Come join us at RCT and build some memories along with us.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of "Our Leading Lady"

A wonderful run of three shows were presented at Union Mills Learning Center this weekend. The cast was wonderful and your hard work really paid off. The audiences loved you. A special thank you to the behind the scenes crew who make the "magic: happen. Brad and Bonnie Davis...our father/daughter back stage technical crew that made all the stage scenes mysteriously appear and disappear. To Stephany Greene who mastered the "quick changes" for Laura Keene and was invaluable in the dressing rooms for changing assistance, also best popcorn maker....ever! To Loyce Broughton who kept sanity reigning in the dressing room and backstage and was super handy with needle and thread when needed. To Erin Geese, Loyce's daughter, whose personalty and dress up skills rivaled those on stage and forever ran errands for us all. To Nicole Shaffer (Snikki) who helped tie ascots and fix sashes and swords and ran back and forth between balcony and dressing room. To Clyde Keller who ran lights and technical and did everything else that was needed and personally ate more popcorn than anyone all weekend. To Ruth Bennett who knew where everybody was supposed to be and always laughed at just the right spots and best acting coach ever! To Les Beale who directed, designed, built sets and played John Wilkes Booth. To Laura Collins Thomas who painstakingly hand painted all the sets and arranged and procured props and performed a leap on stage that rivaled any NBA player. To her daughter Julia Teears who helped paint sets. To Richard Barnette and David Robinson who helped with construction. To the Board of UMLC who are always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. We here at RCT are truly a family. It is a wonderful thing to have parents, children and even grandchildren working side by side with each other to make these productions happen. Again, thanks to you all and thanks for helping us in our quest in "Bringing "Arts" home" to Rutherford County.
